Amplification by Phillips Adams Ballet Lab

Phillip Adams BalletLab and MARS Gallery invite you to an art fundraising event and performance of BalletLab’s iconic master work AMPLIFICATION, performed exclusively on the rooftop of MARS Gallery, Windsor.

BalletLab launched AMPLIFICATION in 1999 knocking the city off balance with Adams’ unique and visionary choreography evoking the 1.6 seconds of mental disassociation and frozen time behind the wheel of a car before it crashes. Phillip Adams, winner of the 2018 Australia Council Award for Dance, will present three excerpts of AMPLIFICATION with five outstanding Melbourne dancers and original members of the Amplification cast.

For over two decades Adams has been delighting Melbourne audiences with his truly unique approach to dance making, performance and art. From the sacred to the profane, the sublime to the messy, there’s no way of predicting what compulsively engaging images and experiences will infiltrate Adams’ work. BalletLab has grown to be one of the most respected and creative dance companies in Australia with an impressive local and international touring history including performances as part of Melbourne Festival, at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), the NGV and international venues across the Americas, Europe and Asia. A limited edition of 8 AMPLIFICATION original prints by photographer Jeff Busby are available for the first time at this event. Individual prints are available for $1000 each or the series of four can be purchased for $3500.

This special event will be fund-matched by Creative Partnerships Australia and has been sponsored by Yal Yal Wines.
