FABRICE BIGOT | BLOOM
7 JAMES STREET WINDSOR
1 MARCH – 29 MARCH 2018
Fabrice Bigot will create a new series of rose portraits titled BLOOM to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Fabrice Bigot travels, throughout Victoria in search of botanical growth to immortalise through luminous yet intimate photographs. Fabrice staged his first solo exhibition in Australia, Naked Garden, at Walker Street Gallery, Melbourne to critical acclaim in 2015. Recent series include Flores Venerea, which exhibited at The Lyric Emerging Artist Gallery, Fitzroy in 2017.
The exhibition will launch 1 March 2018 with a ticked event to be officially opened by Her Excellency, Governor of Victoria, The Honourable Linda Dessau, AC.
All ticket sales, gallery commissions and sale of exclusive Fabrice Bigot silk scarves will go to Global Fund for Women to support anti violence programs throughout the world.
“Women from countries like ours are reaching out to women suffering from violence and lack of human rights throughout the world. Join me to support life changing projects in the Asia Pacific region by attending this wonderful art event’ says Global Fund for Women Board Member, Kerry Gardner.
For MARS director Andy Dinan, the inviting Bigot to exhibit at MARS was a much-awaited opportunity to show the ways in which the art sector can actively support women in need.
“We see many events celebrating International Women’s Day in the corporate sector but very few which are accessible to the public or propose a call to action which enables change,” says Dinan.
BLOOM Opens 1 March 2018 – 29 March. Accompanying Bigot, Georgie Mattingley will exhibit work in MARS’ upstairs gallery.
