Held at the landmark institution, the National Maritime Museum of Amsterdam, Atong Atem will present new works as a part of the permanent exhibition, Shadows on the Atlantic.
Presenting the museum’s rich historical collection against the international practices of contemporary artists, Shadows on the Atlantic retraces history to explore how international maritime history is steeped in colonial violence.
Offering new perspectives on the museum’s collection, we are proud to share Atong’s new work, and the profound contribution her practice makes to retelling history.
Shadows on the Atlantic opens 27 September at the National Maritime Museum, Amsterdam.
