The resin/urethane sculptures are a product of a combatative contest between toxic substances – substances that are nevertheless an integral part of our everyday lives. Created beyond much of the artist’s contrivance the process gives birth to new and ‘authentic’ forms eminently attuned to the contemporary; a cyber-social space that we can neither foreshadow nor do anything about. The accompanying ‘painted photographs’, seeming vanitas paintings intended to touch on our mortality and the transience of life, serve to highlight our unwitting progress.
Together they might resemble things undiscovered, and seek to suggest new ways of perceiving the contemporary world, a new nature, and the contemplation of the future.
