Congratulations to Jenna Lee!

Congratulations to Jenna Lee, the winner of the Open Category Award for the 2024 Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize!

Jenna’s sculpture titled ‘Grass Tree – Growing Together Spins’ transforms the pages of an Aboriginal word dictionary into a native Grass Tree, reflecting the resilience of First Nations cultures, languages and environments.

“This work celebrates the enduring spirit of both traditional language and flora in the face of their ecologies near destruction.” – Jenna Lee

The prize is awarded by the South Australian Museum and recognises the significant relationship between scientific research and the creative arts, awarding contemporary artists whose work centres the natural world and our environmental impacts.
