Fund for artists | Sydney Morning Herald featuring MARS

A National Assistance Program for the Arts, an initiative of the Sidney Myer Fund has recently been set up in light of COVID – 19.

The article ‘Crying down the phone’: million-dollar emergency fund for artists’ was featured in The Sydney Morning Herald and discusses the grant and how it will be directed to Australia’s creative sector to financially support artists affected by gallery, studio, concert hall and theatre closures.

Leading Australian philanthropists have acknowledged that little has been done to assist the cultural sector in Australia and have joined forces to provide practical assistance to artists. Applications will be assessed on the basis of need, experience and talent.

MARS Gallery comments on the effects of the widespread uncertainty to galleries, artists and the future of the art market.
