HARRIE MCKAY

Lover’s Spit

31 August – 17 September

Through a series of detailed figurative studies rendered in ink on canvas, this exhibition draws awareness to the subtle effects of light on sensuous yet banal scenes. These drawings are comprised of motifs of emotional decay: the back of a body looking away from us, broken pearl necklaces, pigeons and an emptying wine glass.  They are material narratives that veer to the surreal, expressing a sense of both intimacy and distance, longing and indifference.
