19 May Josh Muir | Warrnambool Art Gallery Acquisition

We are delighted that the Warrnambool Art Gallery is acquiring 3 new works by one of our represented artists Josh Muir. The three works ‘Coolamon Shield, ‘Whales’ and ‘Lighthouse’ were featured in his solo exhibition ‘Climax Theatre.’ Muir addresses passing on the complex messages of Indigenous culture’s ancestral knowledge in ways that resonate with their contemporary context and explores Indigenous expression through a bold new visual language. This immersive exhibition includes 24 new works printed on aluminium, a neon installation and three-channel projected animation.

Muir’s work has been acquired by the Koorie Heritage Trust, The National Gallery of Australia, Bendigo Art Gallery, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the National Gallery of Victoria.
