Recently, Kenny Pittock’s giant inflatable pear lit up Shepparton for the city’s first White Night festival. Using humour as an entry point to thinking about larger ideas around climate and politics, The World’s Gone Pear Shaped is by far Pittock’s largest sculpture to date, and serves as a hopeful reminder that despite going pear shaped things can still be fruitful. Could there be a more ‘pear-fect’ place for the inflatable fruit than the pear capital of Australia!
Missed the pear at Shepparton? Don’t worry, The World’s Gone Pear Shaped will be travelling to Sydney later this year for Sydney Contemporary.
