2-31 July
Opening Thursday 15th July 6-8pm
The tradition of the nocturne is revisited in Saffron Newey’s new show. This genre is loaded with various interpretations, as night and darkness can be considered potent metaphors. By capturing the night sky in her work, she creates a communion of the senses – the darkness being a natural element, a signifier of time, and a space to imagine. This imbues the artwork with limitless potential for allegory, narrative and context. For Saffron, night possesses the duality of mysterious beauty and the intangibility of a frameless darkness.
