20 Mar So So So It’s Scotty So
MARS is delighted to announce that we now represent Scotty So – the immensely talented young artist who is currently showing at the NGV Triennial for another month. His investigation of the often contradictory relationship between humour and sincerity within lived experience never fails to impress.
At MARS, Scotty will be showcasing new work in a group show called April Fool. See the darkly seductive and intriguing exhibition at MARS from 30 March – 25 April.
Scotty has also released a brand new work, entitled ‘Man’s Bach’ alongside his performances at Collingwood Yards from 11 March – 1 April. Drawing from Scotty’s experience of learning cello as a child, he pays tribute to his earliest form of creative expression. Referencing the stylised trope of the male musical genius as well as the iconic imagery of Man Ray’s ‘le violin d’Ingres’, So explores the performance of gender while playfully locating himself in Western art and musical canons.
