05 May Sophia Hewson Finalist in Archibald Portrait Prize

Sophia Hewson’s finalist painting for the Archibald portrait prize, created in collaboration with Shevaun Wright, depicts fellow MARS artist, Atong Atem.  “Incorporating Atem’s childhood blonde-haired, blue-eyed doll, this painting presents an imagined, psychic landscape full of memories and dreamlike impressions of bodies, colour and touch”, say the artists.

Sophia Hewson’s new exhibition Death Drive opens at MARS on the 27th of May.
