Jenna Lee | un/bound passage

10 August – 28 August 2021

Jenna Lee, un/bound passage, 2019

Jenna Lee’s un/bound passage deconstructs and recontextualises the Lady Bird children’s classic The Voyages of Captain Cook. Hand-dyed pages from the book formed into a sea of miniature boats explore the constructed narrative of colonisation. Lee makes reference to her own cultural identity as a woman of Aboriginal and Asian heritage in her interdisciplinary art practice, utilising the impact of transformation and text.

un/bound passage was created for and first exhibited in ‘Rite of Passage’ curated by Shannon Brett at the QUT Art Museum.
