A love letter to Isabella Rossellini — from sultry femme fatale in Blue Velvet, to the moment she became something even more delightful: a woman in an insect costume, joyfully explaining the sex life of a snail.
Her Green Porn films cracked something open — surrealism with a wink, glamour dressed as a barnacle, high art and absurd comedy in the same frame. It felt like a kindred spirit to our work - that same instinct to find the ridiculous inside the beautiful, and the beautiful inside the ridiculous.
These paintings are a playful ode — Isabella multiplied, dressed in nature's own drag, in devotion to a woman who taught us glamour can be strange, that nature is endlessly inspiring and joy always a little absurd.
