Meagan Streader: Fellowship achievement + Deakin Small Sculpture Finalist

Congratulations to Meagan Streader for her recent achievement of The George Alexander Foundation Fellowship at the International Specialised Skills Institution (ISSI)!

Meagan Streader's Fellowship will explore the preservation of traditional neon fabrication through intensive training and international collaboration with master neon craftspeople. Through building international industry connections, this opportunity will enable her to establish education resources and video-based platforms to support skill-sharing across creative, conservation, and architectural sectors.

Positioning neon as sustainable and adaptable, her project aims to embed traditional neon into local industries to ensure it has a thriving future in Australia.

MARS is also thrilled to see Meagan's work Tower (relic) selected as a finalist in the Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award 2025. It will be exhibited at Deakin University Art Gallery between 27 August - 10 October.

Tower (relic) embodies both nostalgic and futuristic sensibilities to consider the structures, material and phenomena that define our experiences within interior and exterior spaces. Through the combination of art-deco and contemporary styles, this architecturally informed light sculpture evokes emotional connections to memory, personal histories and place.
