Jenna Lee in AGNSW's And I Still Rise

We’re excited to share that Jenna Lee’s stunning installation maan-ma danala: birdim-ba (language dillybag: steady persistent rain) will be exhibited in And I Still Rise (8 November – late 2026), the Art Gallery of New South Wales' landmark show of work by Australian women artists.

As this exhibition invites a reconsideration of established narratives, Jenna’s maan-ma danala invokes her signature recontextualisation of colonial texts as each danala is formed out of paper and ink from pages of ‘Aboriginal Words and Place Names.’  Reimagining these gathering tools as a means to collect language, this iterative work engages with Jenna’s ongoing practice exploring language, materiality, and transformation of inherited histories.

You can see Jenna’s latest work at her solo exhibition, Burn Before Reading, at Gertrude Glasshouse until 8 November. In addition, Jenna is a finalist in the Ellen José Award at Bayside Gallery from 25 October until 14 December, and is also exhibiting in group shows with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art at Bathurst Regional Gallery until 9 November and the National Museum of Australia until 27 January 2026. Internationally, Jenna is participating in the Setouchi Triennale in Japan, which closes 9 November.

Congratulations to Jenna for her inclusion in all of these shows! A mammoth effort.
