Grace Cram is an Australian artist based in Naarm / Melbourne. With over a decade of experience working in architecture, Grace has developed an affinity for materiality, colour, texture and composition that actively informs her painting practice.
Her paintings explore the meaning found in everyday moments, aiming to capture the beauty and humour within the mundane. Cram's works explore states of undress and ideas of compression and release; portrayals of female forms are both hidden and revealed, heightening a sense of intimacy between the viewer and the subject.
With their close range compositions, Cram’s small-scale paintings are a glimpse into the personal, raising more questions than they answer.
Grace was a finalist in STILL: National Still Life Award in 2021 and the 2023 National Emerging Art Prize.
