NAIDOC WEEK 2024: Carly Tarkari Dodd, Kyle Archie Knight, Jenna Lee, Steven Rhall, Damien Shen, Cassie Sullivan
MARS respectfully acknowledges we are on the Traditional Lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the East Kulin Nations, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We acknowledge their living connection to Country, relationship with the land and all living things. First Nations arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land for tens of thousands of years.
NAIDOC Week 2024: Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud celebrates the fire that keeps burning, a symbol of the sharing of arts and culture through the generations, making up the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and traditions.
MARS is proud to present five artists whose unique perspectives and practices reflect the endurance of First Nations cultures, languages and artistic practices.
Collating the contemporary practices of Carly Tarkari Dodd, Kyle Archie Knight, Jenna Lee, Damien Shen and Cassie Sullivan, each artist’s unique practice holds a personal, lived experience. Through photography, sculpture, printmaking, weaving and video MARS celebrates the voices of five artists who keep the fire burning.
