TRACE: Lisa Waup

29 April - 16 May 2026
Overview
MARS is delighted to announce renowned artist Lisa Waup's solo exhibition TRACE from 29 April – 16 May 2026.

As shown in Tarrawarra Biennial 2025, TRACE is to follow what is no longer fully visible. It is an act of searching through memory, through history, through absence—for something that resists being held in the present. Lisa has exhibited extensively across Australia and the globe and her works have been acquired into numerous institutional collections.

Lisa Waup is a mixed-cultural First Nations artist and curator, born in Narrm (Melbourne), whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses a diverse range of media, including weaving, printmaking, photography, sculpture, fashion, and digital art. With a deep connection to the symbolic power of materials, her work reflects her personal experiences, family history, Country, and broader historical narratives.
