The Divided Line: Kirstin McIver
The Divided Line is a video installation that examines the role of data and algorithms in the increased political polarization, particularly surrounding the 2020 US presidential election. It was shot in the days before the election was called, in a boarded up, riot-wary Manhattan, a month before the storming of the capitol. The work uses the live daily election data of swinging vote counts, to weave the video clips together into an artificial narrative of anticipation, hope and fear.
