Jason Sims is a Boandik born, Kaurna based interdisciplinary artist who works in the realm of perceptual art. Using the properties of light and reflection, he creates sculptural works, large-scale installations and public art that create simple illusions of space and form.

Sims is interested in perspective and the representation of space. Exploring the interconnectedness of the internal and the external, he creates expansive spatial environments that facilitate mediations on space and timeHe particularly enjoys working with illusion for its seductive qualities and ability to confound the senses. Playing with perception, he invites viewers to exercise their imagination and see the world in new ways.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from UniSA in 2006, Sims has exhibited across Australia as well as in Hong Kong, the USA, the UK and Europe. His work is held in public and private collections around the world, and he has been a finalist in numerous awards. In 2020, Sims was commissioned by Illuminate Adelaide to deliver his fourth major public artwork as a gift to the city to celebrate the festival’s inaugural year, and in 2023 he had his first solo exhibition in Europe at HOFA Gallery, London.
